How to make your perfume last longer: 7 tips

You've found a scent you love. How do you enjoy it all day? With these 7 tips you'll get more out of every spray.

  1. Spray onto moisturised skin. Fragrance clings better to skin that isn't dry. Use an unscented body lotion, then spray your perfume.
  2. Choose the right spots. Wrists, neck, behind the ears and the inside of your elbows are warm spots where the scent develops well.
  3. Don't rub. Don't rub your wrists together after spraying; let the scent dry on its own.
  4. Spray your clothes too. Fabric often holds scent longer than skin. Test on an inconspicuous spot first, because light fabrics can stain.
  5. Combine with perfume oil. A little perfume oil under your perfume gives the scent a base.
  6. Store your perfume cool and dark. Heat, light and air affect a fragrance. A cupboard is better than a windowsill or the bathroom.
  7. Carry a roll-on. A 12 ml perfume oil fits in any bag, so you can top up on the go.

Good to know: after a while you smell your own perfume less. This is called olfactory fatigue. Others can often still smell it, so don't reapply straight away.
